Over the course of the summer, many of our Latin students dedicate their valuable free time towards Classical Studies. This year, 27 of our students journeyed to UT Knoxville to compete at Nationals with incredible success. While many of our students earned Top Awards and were recognized nationally, here are some of the highlights:
Lilia A. won the election for NJCL President.
Henri P. earned 1st Place in That’s Entertainment, the nationwide talent show.
Alivia B. earned 1st Place in the 100-yard Medley and 50-yard Breaststroke.
Cristian S. earned 1st Place in Reading Comprehension II and 5th place in Decathlon, a test designed to determine the best Classics student in the country, which is an incredible feat for a freshman.
Alex S. earned 1st Place in Reading Comprehension IV.
Deborah W. earned 1st Place in Mythology ½ and Reading Comprehension ½.
Our Certamen Teams also did very well. The Florida Novice Certamen Team (led by Grace O. and Tanner W.) earned 1st Place. The Florida Intermediate Certamen Team (led by Cristian S.) earned 2nd Place.
Our Latin teachers also had a great week. Mr. Mair was elected National Digital Contest Chair, and Mr. Harris and his team won the World Series of Certamen thanks to Pop Culture coaching from a legion of students.
